A site analysis of the Markham Convergence Centre is the first step in the process of determining if it is logical, and financially feasible to install a Photovoltaic system on the roof of the building. The site analysis involves using the Solmetric SunEye 210 tool to collect points on the roof, and calculate the solar potential of each point. The tool is extremely accurate, as it takes external factors in to consideration during the calculation, such as the shading influence of surrounding objects, and the physical presence of surrounding objects. With the solar potential points calculated, and displayed in map form using ArcGIS, the feasibility of the project can be assessed, and the RETscreen analysis can begin.
